The author’s fingertip-gaze touches the surfaces giving back to the skin micro-granules of a cosmos in which living humans and non-living things coexist as equals, dancing strands of a collective DNA which displays itself as at once historically marked and timeless. The world of Paulina Korobkiewicz appears to be a “bytcentric” world: a sample of fabric, a fabric factory, those who work in a fabric factory in Soviet Lithuania. In Russian language, the word byt identifies the set of realia sculpting a society, surrounding and permeating its daily landscape: more than a mere, dusty pile of objects under the anthropocentric gaze, byt is rather about the relationships that exist between the person and these objects, the hierarchy which underlies them, the nomenclatures that define them, the proportions of their presence in a determined space-time. We’re actively trying to do things better here, if something doesn’t sound quiet right to you, let’s talk about it! The costs involving in making a book really depend on the paper, binding, printing quality, quantity and many other parameters. Whatever the size of the publishing house is, ideally we think that the artists shouldn’t pay anything from their pocket and also get remunerated in a way or another. This time, we managed to offer both artists to choose between getting a certain amount of free copies which they could have kept, gifted or sold to make profit and getting a percentage of the copies sold by Zone. We also covered the expenses for our second book “The Halcyon Days”. We are looking forward to seeing your project! Whether it’s a “classic photobook” or something completely experimental, a zine, an artbook… We are not necessarily looking for the next work which will change the direction of the medium or something… We’re just looking for works that are true to themselves and to you as an artists! We will get back to your email generally within a couple of weeks, thank you for your patience!įor our first issue “Z-ONE” We haven’t asked the artists for a submission fee and covered all expenses including design, printing, distribution, marketing… Unfortunately giving everyone involved (80 artists) a free copy wasn’t possible so the artists got a %50 discount for the issue.
